I do believe there's something to the "it's in the blood" theory. I remember breaking down in tears hearing a pipe band in the Lilac Festival parade years ago. It was something primal, something I couldn't name. Now, having been to Scotland, I understand...

First- congratulations on the upcoming nuptials (I assume, anyway, from your use of the word "fiance.")
Second- I had a past life regression done on me by a hypnotist after an extremely vivid dream I had several years ago. It seems one of the lives that I remembered under hypnosis was as a Highlander. Take this with a grain of salt, of course... Gods only know what the truth is.

I watched my dog sleeping and running and chasing something in his dreams. Later I asked him about it and he told me that he keeps having these dreams where he is a wolf chasing deer in the night beneath the full moon in the snow. These are species memories. I think that I have them too! I am the accumulated sum of all that came before me. I have strong feelings for things that I never experienced before. I follow the feelings. That is what brought me here. That is what keeps me going back to the mountains, the forests, following the pipes.

Here's a good article on the mummies Highlander31 mentioned. Don't forget that tartan fabric has been produced at some time or another by nearly every culture that had weaving technology.
