Here in the UK the military DPMs are usually 4 or 2 colour - or have been in the past, and 3 colours considered a civillian pattern.
Is your 3 colour desert a military DPM?

Yes mam, fell off the truck on the way to a regiment in Scotland
Tatonka, bro you really spit that kid out. I got one that looks just like me too. Good to have a minime.
Awesome kilts guys, thanks for sharing. I am not real interested in any of the current US patterns. I am former Army Military Police and would feel OK wearing the ACU but I am just not that big of a fan.
Now that old school German stuff is what I am talking about. The Russians had some crazy stuff too. Who knows what may turn up.- George

It is a no name pattern found at the fabric store bargain bin.
I am still proud to have it! My youngest has one that matches.

...your son's a right chip off the block! :-) The two of you make a magnificent pair. Merry Christmas!

I really like the look of camo kilts. I like the MARPAT pattern, any of the new digital patterns, the civilian patterns like Mossy Oak and Real Tree.
But that's a very interesting idea, making a kilt of one of the German patterns. I think the normal "splinter" German Army pattern material must be available, as I see people wearing stuff in that pattern fairly often (civilian jackets, baseball caps, etc). Actually for the reenactor market they make all of the old German seasonal patterns. I saw a booth at a gun show where a guy was selling all that stuff by the yard.

Oh crumbs, here I go, showing my age again. Oh well! I still think that the camo of the Dennison smock of the 1940's up to about 1960 used by the Parachute Regiment and Royal Marines and certain "other" members of the British forces is the best all round camo pattern you can get. I still wear a much faded Dennison around the place now, when wanting to blend into the scenery. Some of you will not be surprised to hear that I am not sure that I like camo kilts though.

Not WWII, but post-war German (aka 'Bundy' for Bundeswher) material available on ebay:

This was the pre-cursor to DPM, was it not? It still gets worn by THEM, doesn't it?
Of course, THEY get all nervous if people start mentioning THEIR name...
And if you still don't have a clue who THEY are, just think about the Iranian Embassy in London in 1980.
...knock, knock...
My, I wonder who could be at the door?
...creak...
Hello, do I know you?
