My wife has been surfing the PoWM site because she's positive I'm going to end up on it from my excursion to Wal-Mart the other day in my ACU camo kilt. I ain't skeered!

I've been to Wally World several times kilted. I just love the looks from the women. Except for the one moronic chick that just stood and laughed. But I attributed her rudeness to inbreeding.

I look through the PoWM site from time to time, and I'm honestly not surprised to see this. When I first heard of the site I knew it would be a matter of time until somone in a "modern" kilt showed up there.

my comment is on there.
"Kudos to that dude for rocking a Utilikilt!
Real Men Wear Kilts! "
None of those idiots would dare say any of those harsh comments to if the guy were right next to them. Would you really insult a guy that big to his face?

But honestly, that's not a good look...
What's wrong with his "look"? If it was some slim, muscular dude in a UK and t shirt, I bet he'd be stylin. don't dis the big men! I bet lots of us who wear UK's go out in tshirt and tennis shoes!

I'll say up front, I do not personally care for Utilikilt type kilts, but have been seen plenty of times in a t-shirt and sneakers with a tartan kilt.
The wadded up looking pleats, untucked t-shirt and sock-hat just don't work for me. It reduces the kilt to the status of those ubiquitous khaki cargo shorts. IMO

That's sort of where I was going with it but was trying to be polite. Basically, the thing about this chap that probably got him on the POWM site is the fact that he looks slovenly. It's one thing to be overweight (and I won't criticize him for that), but overweight and slovenly are a bad combination. That combination screams to everyone within eyesight that the person doesn't care about himself or his appearance, and people will find it disgusting.
Of course, I'd give the fellow the benefit of the doubt. I've never been grossly overweight, so I don't know how hard it is to groom and dress in that condition. But as to the question posed, "what's wrong with his look" is that people are probably turned off by his apparently lack of self-respect in his appearance, not just the fact that he's overweight or kilted. And so they turn to derision and mean-spirited attacks on the guy.

He ended up on that site because he's different ("oh noes! A man wearin' a skirt! What's wrong with him?? Har har har!"). As someone else mentioned, that site is full of bullies that enjoy making fun of people.
I'm not at all surprised someone in a kilt (of any kind) showed up on there. Frankly, I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner. Another site I'm a member of (not a kilt site) has already gone through this and were disgusted by the comments left about someone who very well could have been a member of that community.
