I know how you are feeling. I had to put down my little girl over a year and a half ago now and reading your post brought up the sad memories for me. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do in my life. It was all very sudden; which hurt even more. I too had her since she was a little kitten. Every now and then I see little kittens or cats for adoption in the paper from the humane society and I think about her. Sorry for your loss.

Sometimes, those things we need to do are the hardest. Having been the one in our family who makes those trips to the vet, I know how hard this decision can be. One time, having to have one of our pups put down, I took her to the vets office, while sitting with her as she went under, the vets small dog came up to me and put both front paws on my knee. It was as if to say it was ok, our pup would understand.

Sorry to hear of your loss, Al. I know from experience the hole it leaves in your life. But it heals.

Al, I know from personal experience just how you feel. It's truly amazing how pets get into our lives and become part of the family.
My thoughts are with you.

Non-pet owners often do not understand or appreciate the attachment we pet lovers have toward our pets. Our pets are not possessions, they are family. Enjoy your memories they will be with you every day.

I too share my condolences. I have lost several pets in the past two years. The one which hurt the most was my 19 year-old baby, who was born in my house.
Please know that your grief is shared by those of us who have been there.

My deepest sympathies for your loss. Pets are a part of the family, and their loss can be extremely difficult.
