This low cut style does not have a steel toe, but the front box is extremely tough. I believe that in their taller boots, the steel toe is optional.

Once you get to my size--14--that boot looks like Mickey Mouse's foot.
I have found that a moc toe makes the boot look a bit more, well, not smaller but less huge. ![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
I have a pair of Timberland that look like this: http://www.amazon.com/Dr-Martens-Men.../dp/B000S8PZX6
When hiking or doing something outside and rugged, I wear them with a thick pair of crew socks over my hose and turned down. Pretty good look, actually.

I own the Blackspot sneakers, but my first pair were old Converse All-Stars I converted. The sneakers fit great and don't wear out as fast as Converse. I'm thinking of getting the boots.

I do own a pair and I normally wear a 10.5 4E. The wide width 10.5 US fits me perfectly. They are true to size and the width is nice as well. The fit is actually so nice that I wear them quite often, kilted or not.

Mr Johnson, I don't want to hurt your feelings, but I ordered the very same boot from Altama.com for 29.99.

No hurt feelings. At the time I ordered, this was the price I found listed. Thanks for the additional information. When I need to order another set I will know that it is cheaper.

If they're anything like the "boondockers" we Navy guys used to wear (which they look very similar to, then I have to disagree. I had destroyed 4 or 5 pairs of boondockers in my first 2 years in the Navy.

not to resurrect an old thread, but has anyone thought about a desert 'chukka' style boot? like THIS
I know it's a classic shoe, and would look great with puttees and a kilt cover, but what about casual wear? And if so, would you go hose up or scrunched down with this lower style boot.
This height seems a bit problematic for me. It seems too low a boot to scrunch hose down, but too high a 'shoe' to go hose up and have it look proper...
or am I just overthinking this?

That's the basic style I"ve been looking for recently, though these in particular have too few eyelets for my comfourt. I just recently bought a similar style of Clark's (see previous post, three eyelets and I added a fourth). On the two occasions that I've worn them with the kilt it's been hose scrunched down. Being of a simple and relatively classic styling, I personally think these shoes will also work well with the traditional hose up with flashes etc. The weather has just been hot enough to boil a monkey's bum on the separate occasions I decided to wear mine...so I was going for comfourt.
