Trust me. You have no idea what sort of circus this is gong to be.
My wife will be wearing a black strapless evening gown. The wedding will be on Friday the 13th. They have to wait for the best man (the future father-in-law) to get out of prison to get him fitted for his tux. The man giving away the bride may or may not be available due to violation of multiple paroles. The bride will be about 8-8.5 months pregnant. and we have until Aug for this to get better.
I'm not sure this is happening in a church so I doubt I'll get that lucky.
For God's sack don't mention any of that of they will end up adding fairy wings to all the participants. My family is beyond hope. My sister's mixed up version of Wicca combined with a Dollar store version on Ren gear could make this an instant winner on the video awards.

Pete - It will be just down the road in either Roseville or Westland. I grew up in Wayne/Westland.

It could always be worse. She could be marrying a Clemson grad.
(Texas version: An Aggie)
(Boston version: A Yale grad)
(USMA verson: An Annapolis, etc.)
I would spend more on video equipment and less on blades. You definitely have an opportunity here.

Could this be one of those events where people end up in jail afterward, having had a sort of a good old time?

What's the old bit: A friend will bail you out of jail. A TRUE friend will be sitting right beside you in the cell saying, "Boy, that was fun!"

Well one of my friends said why buy a sword I will only use probably use once. He said get a Navy sword so that when I make Chief I would have it to use for ceremonies, I will probably have a couple or more before I retire. I checked with a Chief to see if the saber is one of the uniform items that can be worn outside of a uniform and he said yes.
Here is the sword setup -

What do you guys think? To far away from "normal" look?
Thc,
Jim

Check the uniform regs. IIRC, Chiefs are authorized dress cutlasses, not the Naval Officer's sword.

The latest uniform regs removed all mention of swords for Chiefs in full dress. When I had asked a Chief about it he said the main reason was the cutlass doesn't go through the coat openings on the dress blue jacket. When I asked if they had stop wearing any sword for ceremonies he said that they had moved over to the saber. Doing searches the only thing on the cutlass I can find is that it was declared obsolete in 1949.
He did say the cutlass is still given as a gift just not worn.
If you can find any regs that mention the wear of a cutlass I would appreciate it.
