I only went as far as "add to cart" for the "made to measure" option to play with it and didn't want to go any further without actually ordering (soon hopefully!)...Do you have a form to fill in for the sizes or instructions on how to measure properly for a jacket?

I agree on some info defining the differences for those not fully aware of the different kinds of jackets. Perhaps even a level of formality that the jacket is generally appropriate for.

It is a great addition to the site!

I like the look, and found the page easy to navigate, and to understand. I have looked at the existing pages for kilt jackets before, and I think this one is better. I also like that you are splitting out the made to measure from the off the rack jackets.

On the testing in the web browser:
I always test pages I create in a multitude of browsers/operating systems.
I use the following for Windows: IE, Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Safari.
I use the following for Linux: Firefox, Opera, konqueror, elinks
I would also test on OSX if you have access to a computer.

Each browser, and operating system work a little bit differently.

When you order a MTM jacket, what you first have to do is to fill out the order form like normal and add the jacket to your shopping cart. You'll need to select the stock size that is closest to what you normally wear (i.e. 42R or 48L). Then you will add the "made-to-measure" option to the shopping cart.

You'll need to email us specific measurements. Or, if we get the order in and see the MTM add-on, we'll email you for those measurements before sending the order in to our tailors.

In the past, when we've taken MTM orders, some customers have supplied more or less measurements than others. In some cases it has simply been a longer or shorter sleeve length. On other cases, the customer needed an extra-wide jacket through the shoulders. Some customers have supplied a full run-down of measurements for everything from sleeve inseam and outseam, shoulder breadth, chest, length, and circumference of arm at bicep and forearm. In other words, it can be as specific as it needs to be to fit your reequirements.

I have found that most of our clients who order MTM know just what size they need because they have been to a tailor and had MTM clothing before.

But now that we are advertising up front that we can supply MTM services on our jackets for a small extra fee, you are right, it would be very helpful to have full measuring instructions on the web site for those who don't know all the details. I will work on that and get something added. In the meantime, I would suggest going to your local menswear store for measurements.

Regarding the second part of your post, we do have something along those lines available here:
    http://giftshop.scottishtartans.org/which_jacket.htm

It is linked to from the main jacket menu page in our gift shop menu. I'll likely be revising this brief article in the near future, as well.
