Nostalgic pics for me. I grew up in Portland and my maternal grandparents worked at Hill Military Academy on Rocky Butte. My grandmother was a teacher, my grandfather an accountant there. Spent many a boyhood day exploring those ramparts. Remember a big artillary piece from WWI on the grounds of the academy. We could watch a drive-in movie from my grandparent's second floor windows if we used binoculars.
We often used to visit the Hills and they let us kids swim in what seemed a sort of fish pond. Not too deep and not too large. It was a treat for us kids to visit since whatever toys my grandmother confiscated from her students in class she kept in a box for us to play with when we visited. Always something new.
It looks like things have been spruced up there. Remember the stone ramparts abutting thick woods.
Thanks for posting the memories
