@Strider: the size of the finished sporran is 7 x 7 inches. So, for the front & back blocks that plus another 1/4 or half inch hemming allowance in all directions. For the flap, it's 7 inches wide (no hem additions here as I used bias tape) and as long as you want it to. The long wide strip is 5 cm (about 2in) wide and about 50 cm (20in) long, but with turning the ends inside, it's better to make it too long first, you can fit the rest inside or cut it away.

@Jordan: Thanks, I'll be posting more of the pinstripe kilt when I have more time to work on it. It's basically going to be a knife-pleat kilt, and as I only paid 30 € for the fabric, I'll probably try some new-for-me things on it, like side slash pockets.

Today, however I've been doing some additions to the blue gabardine kilt I describe here. And as I promised to show pics of the sporran being worn, I'll do it with my newly revisited kilt (with the picture featuring some of our resident musical instruments). Ta-dah!

Almost everything in the above picture is DIY. The kilt and sporran are by me, and the hose were knit by my darling wife (who, after making them, taught me to knit socks myself so she won't have to make such a gargantuan effort herself - my feet are EU size 50, and with that pattern it took her quite long...)

Here's the kilt with the newly added cargo pockets and straps.

And here's a closer look on the sporran.

    Enjoy!
