Scottish Tartans Authority now shows the tartans in kilt form as well as a swatch.

Look up Texas Blue Bonnet, note the two words the way STA does it.

Can't believe the yardage/meterage isn't already spoken for - a most beautiful tartan.

I'm interested in seeing how the PV differs from other wool samples of the tartan. As I recall, usually the sett size is different on PV, and the colors will be different too. So seeing STA's picture of a kilt in this tartan may not be representative of what this PV tartan looks like.

Also, "Texas Bluebonnet" is correct. Bluebonnet is one word. It's our state flower.

Curious as to the main reason you got it in PV rather than wool.

So I couldn't say no and would "have" to order a semi-trad.

Serious, Rocky can speak for himself but its been my experience that most kiltmakers order wool tartans from the mills as they need them. Imagine the storage space needed otherwise.

I'm sure he would get you a Bluebonnet in wool no problem. PV is a special mill run though.

We can ALWAYS get it in wool, as stock in 16 oz. This was a special run in PV.

We don't carry any wool tartan in stock in the shop b/c there are thousands of registered tartans, so the cost would get very high and the amount of room we have is limited. Also, since the tartan is stock supported, it only takes 2 weeks at most to get from the UK.

Understood. I didn't know that Bluebonnet was in stock wool. I am not in the market for the Texas tartan, but it was a curiousity for me anyway why PV was chosen over wool, but since it has to be a special run and wool doesn't, I totally understand.

I understand Bluebonnet is the correct spelling. That's why I couldn't find it at first. Did some hacking and found that for some reason STA chose to spell it Blue Bonnet - with two words. You might wish to send them an email to correct it.

No clue what the sett size will be. After having a regular sett Isle of Skye then a smaller sett Isle of Skye in PV I've found it doesn't much matter to me. I'm in it for the tartan, not the size of the tartan sett. Your mileage may vary.

I'm guessing we'll get a pic posted on the USA Kilts site soon...or maybe even here...

We're a bit swamped with the wedding stuff and trying to get caught up on orders before leaving. I'll TRY to get it at least SCANNED to show off the color and post it up here before next week.
