I girl that I used to work with was in Germany when she was in the Army. She said that she saw a lot of people wearing the kilt. USA Kilts has a German Heritage tartan and a German American tartan.

I’m a Dane, not a German, but I have travelled a lot in Germany kilted (Flensburg, Kiel, Hamburg, Bremen, Osnabruck, Munster, Hannover, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Bonn, Koblenz, Wiesbaden, Mainz, Heidelberg, Munich, Ulm and probably some cities that I have forgotten), and I have never have never experienced any problems at all when wearing tartan kilts.
If you check the cities with a map you’ll see that I have covered Germany from north to south quite well.
Once wearing a Utilikilt in Wuppertal a quite charmless lady refused to answer when I asked her the way to a parking house. But it is the only negative reaction I have had to kilt wearing in Germany, with modern as well as tartan kilts. I have had positive response to Utilikilts in Munich and Kiel.
The same applies to several other countries: Denmark, Sweden, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy (Tuscany, Rome, Sardinia and Naples) and Spain (Barcelona).
Have a nice stay.

I was last in Germany in summer 2008 and wore the Kilt around Munster, Ibbenburen and Osnabruck. The locals were chuffed to bits and very inquisitive. All positive reactions too I must say.
