I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

Hi, Mike, and welcome to XTMS from the bottom end of Africa from a namesake.
Going by those Lochcarron swatches that Bold Highlander posted, you would be better off going for the Ancient one – those Modern colours blow my eyes!
Hope you are wearing it soon!
Regards,
Mike

Slightly north of Brian
Up at Fort Drum here...I guess that makes me a northern New Yorker! I am an SU alumni and grew up just east of Rochester. Where in Central NY do you live?
By the way...welcome to XMTS!

Greetings from Alberta, Canada, Mike! You'll find this website most friendly and helpful. Here's another possible source for your MacFarlane Red Ancient fabric: http://www.lindaclifford.com/MacFarlane.html
Bye for now.

Thank you for the warm welcomes everybody!
BLHS209 and Kilted Jeeper (Pete, sorry), do you guys play in any pipe bands in the area?
BoldHighlander, thank you for the link, that was one I was looking at myself.
Maybe this isn't the right area to ask, but I'm here so I might as well, what kilt manufacturers (preferably in the U.S.) are recommended? Thank you all!

Spc. Scott, I'm liking that you're from Ithica, that's where the great Carl Sagan is buried (and where the Big Red is located ;) )

Mike_Oettle, I don't much care for the modern MacFarlane either, I would definitely wear it, but it reminds me too much of the band's Royal Stewart for some reason (maybe it's just me.) I do prefer ancients, and I'm glad I'm a MacFarlane, as the ancient MacFarlane looks nice, unlike some tartans teehee ;) What tartan are you by the way, that's lovely!
