Have you chaps read the comments on the "electric version" of the article. Fascinating replies. Of course if it were me, I would have banned Jeff from the UK ,never mind some golf course, for wearing THAT cap with and the kilt. LOL.

Jock, surely some young Scot out there is wearing a kilt with a shell suit jacket right now. If THAT isn't more worthy of deportation and a barred return, I don't know what is.

Even just wearing the shell suit without the kilt would be enough, IMHO.

Excellent article, great leader item too which seems to reflect the majority of the comments. After the way so-called "Royal" Troon embarrassed Scotland by the way treated Jeff they deserve all the ridicule which will be coming to them and I will certainly do my little bit to dissuade our overseas guests from golfing there.

Troon golf club were keen to take Jeff's group's money up front, then they allowed some chronically inadequate jobsworth to make up the no kilt rule after the group arrived and to hold the group to ransom of losing their game. Er, well, I do have to confess that I do not know what a "shell suit" is.

That's what I was afraid a shell suit was. Is it 1984 again?

Back on topic, the comments were great, and Jeff's replay was very good too.

A good friend of mine is the head Grounds Keeper in Augusta, so I forwarded him the article. I was heartened by some of the response, seems like you have developed a following.

your story made it into one of the large national tabloids, The Sun, however it was done with a negative anti-american spin just because it's The Sun
