A fabulous set of pictures. Ern, you really have given us a really comprehensive view of the games and of the people you met over the weekend. I have to say though that some of those cabers look rather hollow compared to the ones which are thrown in Scotland .

Those "hollow" cabers are our secret weapon. We lure in innocent children with easy to throw cabers then gradually sneak in heavier ones until they can throw a full sized caber like it was a mere toothpick!

Our heavies were trying to throw a caber weighing 12st 12lb without much success. I never saw so many attempts fail to flip over. At least none of them fell on the judge's tent like I saw some years ago.

We had a great time, although by the time we got around to seeing Mael Coluim the kids were pretty tired (that's probably why my son looks like pure evil in the photo. I swear he's generally a cheery lad).

It had been too long since I'd been to the games, but I definitely won't be waiting so long again. If we can't make it to Williamsburg we'll try to hit the event at the fairgrounds. Who knows, maybe we'll make both.
