Welcome from Cincinnati.
If you are looking for a kilt "fix", the Scottish Society of Indianapolis is putting on a highland games/festival this Saturday. It's a bit of a drive from Lexington, but it will be a beautiful drive on Saturday, so come and join in on the fun. If you do come up, please stop by the Clan MacTavish tent and say hi to me, and visit for a spell. Here's a link for more info:

Sorta Kentucky for now
I am an Army Officer at Fort Knox. I have ALWAYS admired kilts and I figure I'm a big enough boy now to get one. I'll keep the Carrollton KY event in mind and look out for it.
Oh, and my first post too.

Welcome, Erik. If you're in Ft. Knox, you're just about equidistant from two Kentucky games - Kentucky Scottish Weekend in Carrollton and the Glasgow Highland Games in, well, Glasgow, KY.

Kenneth,
Technically, the Kentucky Scottish Weekend is in General Butler State Park (just outside the city limits of Carrollton), and the Glasgow Highland Games is actually in Barren River State Park (Lucas, KY - well outside the city limits of Glasgow). See the XMarks map for details.
Being at Ft. Knox, Erik's also pretty close to the Central KY Games in Eminence.
Hope to see all KY kilties at these Games!

Welcome from a native Louisvillian and 7th generation Kentuckian!
In addition to KY Scottish Weekend at Carollton (Gen. Butler State Park), there's also the Glasgow (KY) Highland Games at Barren River State Park and the Central Kentucky Highland Games at Eminence (at the Renaissance Faire site).
In addition, there are at least two pipe bands in the Lexington Area, one of which (Kentucky United Pipes and Drums) wears the Kentucky tartan.
There should also be a Scottish Society or St. Andrews Society somewhere around your neck of the woods.

Hi, Spitz, and welcome to X Marks from the bottom end of Africa.
Your handle suggests a bit of German ancestry. My paternal family is from Germany, my mother’s from England and Scotland – although on both sides I am also of Afrikaner descent, with roots in France, the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden and Bengal.
Regards,
Mike
