Kate was at Moy in 2009 for the Highland Games. I was amazed by her full mallard duck sporrans. I wonder what's next, a trout sporran, or perhaps a muskie?
I sometimes wonder why we want to dangle wild life in front of our crotch; I prefer it out in the field myself. I'm not sure its a tradition that meshes well with the world we now live in. That said, I do myself have a fox sporran; but I feel guilty when I don it. I'm sure that makes the fox feel better.

If the fox wasn’t killed especially to become a sporran, why feel guilty?
As Kate says, if it is not made into a sporran, it simply rots away.

Yes, that was indeed my rationale when I purchased it. Still, I am wearing the skin cut off another being. In some ways it is beautiful, in that foxy lives on...
Thank you Terry! By the way, how do you post youtube videos on XMTS like that? I tried all sorts of things, and I am computer literate, however I must be having some sort of brain lapse! Thank you to all who have posted thus far - it is an interesting video indeed. Her sporrans are a very traditional design that were hugely popular during the nineteenth-century in Scotland. This is evident by the many photos, paintings, and lithographs that still survive to this day. Cheers!

Your welcome Kyle!
It's a wee bit of Celtic magic on my part
Actually, it's really quite simple once you do learn the process. I thought there was a tutorial or something on "how to", but for the life of me I cannot locate it. So, I'll attempt to explain it....
First go to the desired youtube video, in this case the one of Kate's sporrans. Under the video click the share link. A code will pop-up, in this case looking like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IL3CLmhZqks
Now, we do not want the whole code. What we're after is whatever appears after the equal sign, in this case: IL3CLmhZqks
Now, we place that code between the following post codes: [ yt ] & [ /yt ]
(in reality the brackets would be next to the yt, but for our purposes it will not show up if I do it as it should be typed. If in doubt, hit the quote button & look at the code in my post).
And it should appears thus:
I hope this helps mate!

Now there's a real artisan and craftsman for ye! Even makes a lowly common clansman like me want one!
By-the-bye, SCOTSHeritage magazine ran a nice article on her this past year (sorry, couldn't find which issue). They mentioned that she used to offer a "tail" to match her animal head/mask sporrans, just for a bit of fun! She said it didn't really catch on...?
Below are a couple of photos I have uploaded, showing a better angle of Kate Macpherson's animal sporrans - as you can see, it is quite the array. Enjoy!
Slainte mhath,
