Also just ordered my first kilt for my sons wedding
My Great-grandparents Crawford came to homestead in Alberta from Glasgow in 1913. My son decided that for his wedding, he, his brother and I should all wear Crawford tartan ties. This made me think about a kilt, but my better half actually asked me out of the blue if I wanted to attend in a kilt. HECK YES! I've always wanted one.
I asked and got kilt pre-approval from the bride. I swore my kilt wouldn't be prettier than her dress, so I'm trying to stay subdued. No tuxedos will be worn, it will be mostly semi-formal. I've decided on a charcoal tweed Argyll jacket/waistcoat and horn buttons, with bottle green hose with burgundy flashes, or more likely, black hose with dark green or burgundy flashes.
Today I ordered a Casual 4-yard 16 oz. from Burnett's & Struth in Modern Crawford. Our son's wedding is in southern California in mid-March, but I know I'm cutting the dates pretty fine. I'm counting on B&S's 4-6 week delivery for casuals.
Also waiting on the jacket and various other accoutrements shipping from across the pond to Vancouver. Multi-jonesing in effect... ain't eBay wonderful?
Hard to say which I'm more excited about the wedding, or my new ...um ....gee, this forum is a great resource!
