    A fitting tribute Jamie.
All good things must come to an end.
The Saltire has been a magnificent bond of friendship over the past two years. I was fortunate to see the Saltire and sign her log book during the first year of her voyage and to host her for a short time during her second year's travels.
The Saltire has travelled far and united many people, she has truly earned her retirement, pride of place either with Hamish or with you and Star.
I do sincerely hope that you will continue to look in on xmarks and to contribute your wealth of knowledge on kilting and Scottish Country Dancing to this forum.

I too was fortunate enough for my family and i to cross paths with the great ship in Toronto in 2009 at a SOKS kilt night we were guests at. Photos are somewhere but the moment never lost in my mind.

    Bon voyage, Saltire, homeward bound.

The moment of tossing Grant into the tree in Ferndown, Victoria, BC will live forever in my memory.

Jamie, thank you for making me a part of the crew of the Saltire.

    Farewell Saltire!

A great many of us benefited from your imagination in creating the Saltire and sending her on her voyages. I had the good fortune of seeing her for Burns Night in Scotland at Ferintosh in 2009, and then being awarded the honor by the weekend's group of taking her onto the Continent of Europe.

It has been an adventure to remember for years to come.

My sincerest best wishes to you, your wife, and children for the year 2011 and many more to come.

Life does move on. I am honored that I was able to be part of the voyage.

    Peace to all.

I don't understand this referance. I get the feeling that there has been turmoil at xmarksthescot in the past. I know the story of this quote but I don't see the application.
It was what was written on the wall by an unseen hand at Belshazzar's feast in the Book of Daniel and means "thou hast been weighed in the balance and found wanting."

I don't understand it's application here unless it refers that the writing being on the wall for the continued voyages of the good blimp. :blimp:

I was privileged to encounter it twice, once in Dumfries and once in Cardiff but it was not only seeing the Saltire itself but also the pleasure of reading and adding to the entries in the log which was people greeting each other in kilted fellowship and sharing their feelings and thoughts. It gave a connection that was beyond the purely electronic,

I would like to ask Jamie if there is a way of scanning these so that people may access and read the log in document or pdf form, to remind who saw some of it as well as for the benefit of those who may have seen photographs but never seen the log. The log will remain a valuable document long after the Saltire reaches its final mooring.

All the best to you, Starr and the little ones Jamie. The Saltire was a brilliant idea Sir and it's a sadness that the journey is now over.

Edit: A pdf of the log. Nice one Trefor. It would be great if that could come about.
