Great idea. As soon as I read of the retiring of the little airship my first thought was of a traveling parting glass. It it a very tradition item in both Scotland and Ireland. Both culture have folk songs about the custom and use of them. Might I suggest the words to the Scottish and Irish songs be included on the inside cover of the log, in case they caretakers have the urge to breakout in song after using it.

Arrrrrrh! And add to this the dreaded "Curse of the Quaich"!
If anyone does keep it longer than the aforementioned two weeks...the pleats of his kilt will all straighten out and he will have eight yards of floppy fabric hanging about his scurvy quaich keepin' butt!
Best

There is a Highland Games festival in Phoenix, Arizona at the end of February. If there are any xmarkers planning on attending, maybe could host it?
Sorry if it's already enroute way off somewhere different, I am at work and could not read all the responses, so here is this uninformed reply!
Awesome idea btw! Brilliant! Can't wait to see the log!
Slainte,
Zach

Great idea. A grand new tradition! Kudos to you Steve, for the emphasis on broader travels so ensure that the Quiach reaches every continent where members want to host it.
"Before two notes of the theme were played, Colin knew it was Patrick Mor MacCrimmon's 'Lament for the Children'...Sad seven times--ah, Patrick MacCrimmon of the seven dead sons....'It's a hard tune, that', said old Angus. Hard on the piper; hard on them all; hard on the world." Butcher's Broom, by Neil Gunn, 1994 Walker & Co, NY, p. 397-8.
