Gun Haggis Fat Choy! (what?)
This is something I heard about on the radio: apparently some years back, a person of mixed Scots and Chinese heritage, a man from the Vancouver area in British Columbia, started a growing movement involving the mixed celebration of Burns Day and Chinese New Year, and it is indeed called Gun Haggis Fat Choy. There is said to be a Burns supper with, among other things, haggis-filled eggrolls on the menu. I for one would be most interested to learn more, if any members here know about it.
Otherwise, Lunar New Year falls on February 3 this year. This must be by far the largest holiday on earth, and although a person with zero Asian heritage, I still wish to extend everyone the more traditional greeting of Gong Hay Fat Choy!
This will be the Year of the Rabbit. Respect the power of the bunny.
