Then there is the three-piece tweed kilt suit. The one I'm wearing below is Harris Tweed. (Note the tweed Inverness cape on the left).

The funny thing is that I hardly ever wear this as a suit any more. But I will occasionally wear the kilt on its own.

And the jacket and waistcoat from this suit are my favorite to wear with most any of my kilts!

Rocky and Matt, you both have been inspiring me greatly on building my own taste and style in kilts. I say this in all seriousness. You guys are some of the best outfitted kilted gents I have seen. I love the style! The only tweed I have is a few flatcaps. I will take some pics and get them posted.

I sympathize. This is all I have at present.

The one on the left is destined for surgery, the one on the right will be left intact.

I didn't even really like the stuff a year ago, but it kind of got under my skin. Now I'm looking at tweeds every day!

Here's one of the swatch they sent.

Check my 'Swatches' photo album for more Marton Mills tweeds.

I can't show you my favorites, they are long gone. I do think that Harris Tweed circa 1960 was different from the current offerings. It was heavier for one, and tweedier (richer blend of wools). This thread makes me feel old. I do prefer the vintage Harris Tweeds.
