I'm digging the Douglas Brown. I also wear Douglas (mother's side) but was not aware of that variation.

Don't wait too long. I got a similar deal on my other Ancient Red Douglas custom weave from Tartanweb over a year ago. I am sure TW lost money on that deal as that kilt was even cheaper, but a month or two after recieving it I noticed that they had changed their ordering listings so that "all tartan" kilts included an extra charge for custom weaves. This new place may figure that out and restrict their tartan selections as well if they notice a lot of custom weaves drawing down their profit margins.
Luckily my wish list is diminishing to near zero, but not there yet, and subject to change at any time.

Just looked at their website. £290 for any tartan, machine stitched, seems like a pretty good deal still
Yes, it may be a good deal for some people. However, it is not £290 for "any tartan" but tartans listed with the Scottish Tartans World Registry. This is, as I'm sure you know, a charity, and it does not list every tartan that is registered. For instance, it does not list many tartans that are on the Scottish Registry of Tartans, which was set up by the Scottish Assembly.

Interesting....if current exchange is correct that's about $468 USD. Which is just $27 less than what my kiltmaker charges to hand sew a 16 ounce men's kilt....course, no special weave there.

Ron:
It's dearer than my favorite kilt maker charges for a standard strome, hand stitched too and I feel most disloyal even thinking about it but we're talking special weaves here. Kilts that nobody else has... I'm sure you know that feeling mate? For now at least? ![Very Happy](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
kilted scholar:
You're right, I've checked their list and most, but not all of my wishlist is available. Which makes it all the more painful that I'm not in a position to jump right in.

Aye. Okay, I recently paid 329 Pounds Sterling for a 16 ounce, hand sewn, single kilt custom weave by Dalgliesh Mills. Still not that much more ($63) for the hand sewn instead of machine sewn.

Mmmmm... you have a good point. Unfortunately this is all speculation as I don't have the financial where-with-all to expend on Kilts right now. No bad news, thankfully. Only good and nothing that really effects anybody here but I must conserve what I have for now... all will become clear soon enough.
