The sense that needs to be talked into you is to do it right, if you're going to do it at all. I believe a ruche is just a way of tying a cravat, so buy an Ascot tie and make it proper.

I am a fan of charcoal with a strongly contrasting garter/flash.
I.E. if you have a tartan with bright red, wear a red tie, and red flashes (this looks great with Black Stewart).
P.S. Wow it's amazing how similar Robertson Hunting is to Lochcarron's version of Davidson of Tulloch. (http://www.scotsconnection.com/produ...umLanguageID=1)

Again, yeah...I wish that I could find a red for the tie and flashes that was so deep that it almost looked black...this would be nice.

I'd opt for the red, but since it's not available in the style you prefer, the bottle green would probably be my second choice, followed by grey.

But they are available if you commission someone like, oh, I don't know, maybe, me to make them for you.

Anything is available if you commission someone to make it for you but then you have to come up with the money to compensate them ($$$$) for their time...not in the budget or the timeline right now, as I mentioned in the original post.

You might be surprised. Knit hose are much less expensive than their tartan siblings.
Also, don't rule out some Lewis hose from the STM. I use them for fairly dressy events, and they look amazing. Plus, they come in all sorts of colors.

I don't know how much you are willing to spend but USA kilts has Aran hand knit hose for about $60. I LOVE them and get just as many complements on my hose as I do my kilt.

Had a look but couldn't find them on their website. Can you help?
