Not much to add, but I have noticed leather seats help.

Help with what? Maintaining pleat integrity, or accidentally exposing oneself to the masses?

Oh.. sorry. Helps when you have to get in and out because you can slide around on the leather a little easier than on some of the cloth seats, while wearing a kilt of course.
    That doesn't sound any better!

I notice the same thing when I get into my truck. My solution: Move Fast! Then, I adjust my pleats when I'm behind the wheel.

Seriously though, getting in and out of vehicles kilted just takes a little different 'technique' than when trousered. I find just sitting in sideways and then sliding around works for me. But it varies by vehicle as well, I know how I get into a tall truck is different from getting into my car, where the seat is like 10 inches off the ground.
Exactly the way I go about getting in and out of vehicles

Am I that different? Getting in or out of lifted trucks I have my butt facing out, not my legs. I get on the nerf bar or door sill and put my legs under the steering wheel then slide the rest of me into place. Opposite getting out, slide rear out while feet are in vehicle, then climb down like I'm going down a ladder.

The only way you could see under the kilt is if you were lying on the floor with your head by the clutch... in which case you'd be seeing what's under the kilt anyway.

Got two words for you: running boards. They are your friends. And if your truck doesn't have 'em, consider getting some. They give you a platform to stand on that's much closer to the door opening than the ground.

Stand on the running boards with your heels to the truck, sweep your pleats, sit down in the truck with your legs hanging down -- you may have to hop up if you're still too low to do this, OR take another step up from the running boards to the bottom of the door frame itself. Then, just like with a car, swing both your legs in. That's it.

Good one, I like that. My own approach in such situations has been to use a belt, cinching it around the hips and holding with one hand as I sit down and get positioned, then raising **** & legs slightly so I can slide the belt forward (with upward pressure) to the knees. Similar effect. I first began doing that when I was wearing "great kilts" and driving considerable distances, before getting my first tailored kilts.

Dale: I like the idea of the belt, because in the summer, especially, the towel might get hot. Do you use the belt again when you exit or do you just get out?
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

I like the belt idea. I'll give that a shot.
