The woodburning really set it off, looks great. I would check local laws before wearing it since it is what is refered to as a stiletto and is prohibited even in gun toting Texas

I think the knife its self is poor quality but I like it that you took something and made it work. The design on the handle is very nice, I think you should wear it. Legality wise, you can take a grinder or your sharpening stone to one of the edges and make it flat(unsharpen it).
If your looking for a practical/usable sgian dubh, I recommend Cold Steel's Braveheart. Its a REAL knife. I've been carrying one for a while now and really like it. I dont doubt for a minute that I could clean a fish, skin a deer or pick out a splinter with it.
Somebody ought to.

I had one of those when I was a kid. I think I got it at a ren faire.
If you do that dhu, you might sand down the side of the handle that rests against your leg so that it is not as bulky.

I unsharpened one side to make it legal.

Good job! I say if you are happy with it, then carry it! I too have one of these knives, and I kind of want to do this to it lol
I also have the Braveheart by Cold Steel that Guinness>water suggested, and I agree that it is a great knife!

A word of warning - those brass fitted "Pakistan" knives tend to be heavy as heck. I think after a day of wearing you'll be compelled to go to a lighter sgian.

The knife looks fine to me... like most of the folks in this thread, I got one of those when I was a kid, too. The carving, however, is wonderful! I love the design.
Wear it!
...and ditto on the Brave Heart knife from Cold Steel. I have one of those too, and it's a very usable blade.

Thirsty Viking by all means. Just don't out do me.
The knife is not heavy at all. I figure it looks fine to me it cost all of $1 and fills the uniform requirement for my pipeband. Glad you guys thought it was interesting.
