Great choice of tartan for the shirt too -- I have one in Maple Leaf in wool from Pendleton in Oregon.

Yes, my shirt is a Pendleton as well. I was quite excited when I found out that they make clothing in the Maple Leaf!

Sweet! You'll end up wearing that one a lot. I wear mine(I have a couple) almost everyday. They make great "do anything" kilts, you wont worry about messing it up much.

<snip>I now wear it mainly just for particularly dirtier or real active activities and flying (not bad for flying save the airport hassles). Now that I have worn both PV and wool kilts my level of satisfaction is a little diminished as I am not as comfortable with the narrower apron.

Not to worry folks, I still favour traditional kilts for special events and p@nts for daily public wear.

I'll probably wear the UK around the house quite a bit because of the pockets and the way it sits lower on my hips. Even at home, I've usually got a lot of stuff on me and the way I sit for reading or lounging, the higher waist of a traditional kilt is not as comfortable.

And now that I have one, my lass is warming up to the idea of modern kilts

Great score, Colin! I love my UK's for patio, shop wrenching, and about town. You may or may not end up with more, but it is all good, my friend. If you get bit by the bug, a Workman may be next in your line up. I've got a faded, stained beater for shop work that I scored off eBay for $100 and I thought that was a steal. I'm wearing it as I type - Friday and grillin'/chillin'. My favorite for about town is the one you scored, for which I paid full price. Your score rocks! Cool belt BTW!

well done. my first kilt was a olive green UK mocker. i often wear it with big boots, a t-shirt and a flannel (I now have one in McPherson). FREEDOM!

I think that's because you wear it well. My wife was the same way, because most guys she saw wearing an American style kilt looked terrible in it, because they've got no clue how to wear one. I know for a lot of people, that's the whole point, there are no "rules" with a Utilikilt. But if you wear it like you don't care, you will look like you don't care. Period. In your pictures, you're showing the the thing a little respect instead of just throwing it on like an old pair of cargo shorts, so of course your lass thinks you look good in it!

Now that I've had this Utilikilt for a bit, I find myself wearing it quite a bit; it's really comfortable and convenient as a house kilt

Thus far I have no inclination to wear it outside the house but I suppose I could see myself camping or maybe hiking in it... assuming the insects weren't too bad! It's washable, non-flammable, and these pockets really do hold a LOT of stuff
