You bet I've got plans. I'm going to UNC-Charlotte this fall as a History major. Hopefully continue it to a doctorate degree. Plan on being a teacher, hopefully university but I'll settle for high school.
I plan on stickin' around here, I amn't going anywhere.

Congratulations! Enjoy this exciting time in your life.
You seem to have a good head on your shoulders, and you do set a good example for the other young posters on this board. I appreciate that.

Wow! Congratulations I understand what you are saying: I also graduated this year (not high school, that was a *cough* few years ago). And I am really excited about your plans! To have the opportunity to continue your studies is rare (considerably less than you might imagine) and, as others have pointed out, there is a direct correlation between education and earning potential (if you Google income education you will find a lot of information on that).
Stay with your dreams!

Congratulations. My son graduates tomorrow and I am full of concern for his future. The world is a big wild place. I applaud your plans to study and get an advanced degree. I think that teaching is one of the best callings. My mother was a teacher for many years and did a lot of good for a lot of people. Best wishes to you and good luck!

Nick the DSM: You sound like a man with a plan. Good for you! You are also blessed to be living in a great part of the country. It's easy to understand why you want to stay.
Any particular period/places of history in which you are most interested? I like 1st millennium British history - Picts, Scotti, Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Celts, Vikings, etc. and all that cultural mixing (to put it mildly). :-)

I'd love to study medieval and european history but I might do US history, World or Western Civilizations.
It was a hard decision to choose history, I'm almost still indecisive. It was either that, engineering, or I'd just go in blind and just find something.

Ouch! Stab me through my heart, why don't you?
Here's the same advice I give my seniors when they're about to head out into the "real world": take some of the money you get for graduation gifts and go buy yourself one of those little 2-drawer filing cabinets. You'll be amazed at the amount of paperwork you need to keep up with in college.
Congratulations.

Nick the DSM: At your point in life it's not just OK to be indecisive. It's a good thing. You've got LOTS of time to make up your mind. Just follow your heart and use your head and you'll do fine. Good luck at UNCC. Study hard and play hard, ..., but in that order.
