I'm wondering if the images got reversed? The pleats seem to be facing the opposite direction from what is normally seen.

Looks like a tidy job on the pleats, though. Nice and straight and clean.

Maybe the pleats go the opposite direction if you are in America vs Europe, kind of like the steering wheel on a car.

should I make it so that the kilt doesn't have the drape or not? I'm thinking about wearing this one to casual events and around the house wear.

I'm not sure just what you man by "the drape"; can you elaborate a bit?

I certainly think you should -- It does look to be well made, I like it!

    Is the "fell" stitched?

It's hard to tell by looking at it....How are the pleats held in place? It almost looks as if there's a single line of machine stitching going across the buttocks..and then above that line, the pleats are loose again? Am I correct? If so, that's not really any sort of proper kilt construction technique, but I could guess where you learned it, as I've seen the video on youtube before. I'd highly recommend The Art of Kiltmaking.

Regarding the drape...I'd lose it altogether. It harkens to something from the olden days...but it's not accurate. If you like it and want to do ren fair type activities, by all means go for it. I think it's just a hassle and looks kind of costumey.

If this all sounds rather critical, please don't take it to be confrontational. Just doing my best to give honest feedback and help a new member. I was a newbie a mere 2 years ago...and have made two kilts since that time and learned an awful lot from the members here!! Welcome to the forum.

Those pleats look really nice, by the way. They're very crisp and even. Congratulations!

    Yup.

I like the look of the fabric -- color and sett size -- too.
