Loud MacLeod is a wonderful tartan. You wear it well (hehehehe!)
I can do one better on the shoes. I have a pair of yellow ones, with a bit of black thrown in, which you just might recognize from a certain Bruce Lee movie.

It's too bad that jacket is too small for me. I might ask them to wear it more often. Next time we have a kilted outing, I'll request he wear it.

Is this not a pair of shoes, crying out for RED laces!

The jacket is great, but the kilt isn't so much. The problem being that it's not MacLeod of Lewis. To be Macleod of Lewis, the three bands of black are supposed to be of the same width, not a wide one in the middle and narrow on each side. Now and then I see this tartan labelled as MacLeod of Lewis, or Dress MacLeod. I'm not sure if it's an actual tartan or just a mistake.
Thought you ought to know.

Good eye, Ron. Yes, the tartan in the kilt is indeed incorrect. That's the version woven by Marton Mills in Polyviscose. Not sure why they don't do the correct sett.

I recently saw a MacLeod of Lewis muted tartan kilt that was absolutely to die for. It was absolutley gorgeous and had me totally wanting to get a kilt in it. I Was with Panache at the time who actually is a Mac of Lewis and he was going gaga as well...google it to see what I mean..a real beauty.

Re: Loud MacLeod gathering... well, sort of
A story about the loud Macleod, I heard many years ago as a boy, was that it was given to Macleod of Dunvegan by the Jacobites, and that the yellow represented the treachery they believed the Macleods were guilty of. Anyway, Dunvegan was suspicious, and never took to it - the tartan eventually ending up as being associated with the Lewis branch.
Just a story - I hope it doesn't annoy anyone - my father told it to me, I think he got it from one of his uncles, who was a MacLeod from Skye.
By the way - a big Hello from Ireland from me. Lots of Hebridean connections, as you can see from my username.

Well, there is a story that I have not heard before. I have no idea how true it is.
