Re: First Kilt, homemade...
CMcG: Picked up a thin belt as recommended, good call. I could feel the difference, chain was definitely going to rub everything the wrong way if used too often. Thanks for the tip!
Also thanks to RAF regarding which way the clips fasten on the chain, and piperdbh for the budget tips on the strap. Also, piper - clever idea about the interfacing, though personally I try to avoid fusibles since I've had some experiences with bubbling later on (I'm probably just too impatient to iron it in place correctly the first time 'round). Sew-in would be a great fix, too bad there's really no good place to keep it fastened all the way down. :1
Tess - camp? Sounds interesting, what all goes down?
scotchmaster - Thanks, I'm glad I hung onto the sweater after becoming a civilian - finally found an outfit it goes with!
13oz Leatherneck tartan's on the way from scotweb, time for version 2.0...

I like the wide pleats. It sort of looks like a box-pleated kilt
End quote.
I thought the very same thing. If you make another one maybe you could try a box pleat.
Good effort. It takes me all my time to sew a button on!
Chris.
