Gosh, I can't imagine anyone being offended. Have you seen the WW I photos of the regiments in the trenches? Heck, I was impressed by youir kilt and your prowess wearing it. although you really aren't my type (if you know what I mean.)

And I have to say, that your demonstration is a clear inidcation of the wearability and durablility of that kilt. Good show.

I have seen images of those young men. That's precisely why I felt compelled to clarify my motivations. But, thank you for the reassurance.

You wore the kilt while in a fight for survival per se, and that's what historically Highlanders did. Many probably used their kilts in the same manner as you did, not for sport, but to face the tough terrain, weather and for survival. You do the kilt proud

Tyler: Thanks for the great pics of putting yourself, and your kilt, through those rigorous paces. I enjoyed looking at them, but frankly, I would hate to be there by your side, especially at my age.

I have the same kilt in the same tartan, but in a much more pedestrian environment, and love it! Donning it is like wrapping a towel around me after a hot shower - very comfortable and relaxing. It's a great garment for just hanging around the house.

But, I too, put it through its paces in grueling rituals of my own. For example, when I go from the rigor of standing up in my little scotch bar in order to select a single malt to winding down in my favorite Ekornes (Norwegian socialist) chair to watch a Netflix movie, I must quickly and adroitly release, and then re-attach, the Velcro closures in order to make room for my distended belly. While doing so, I always mentally recite a little orison of my own, like "Thank you Lord for giving Rocky the inspiration to create this wonderful innovation".

Of course, I have to be very careful about standing up, especially if there's company in the room. Explaining a kilt around your ankles is always a bit awkward, unless of course you are wearing a Woolen Willie Warmer from our favorite Ebay site. Wow! Really speaks to the efficacy of the old Willie Warmer if it requires cooling off so soon.

And, John, our use of this kilt is much more similar than you think. About once every month, my wife and I head to Whole Foods and spend an obscene amount of money on bread, stinky cheese and olives. We drive home, grab an untested porter or stout, throw in our latest Netflix movie, and ingest enough calories to fatten a small midwestern city. Sadly, I don't have any pictures of these events, but the soporific effects of our feast preclude any actions beyond ripping and repressing my velcro waistband. The endurance required to keep my eyelids up until the credits roll dwarfs what I employ rolling in the mud and hopping over walls.

Next time, we'll turn south and lift a pint and a wedge in salute to a kindred soul!

Great photos, and a wonderful testimony to the versitility and durability of the kilt. You certainly have put your kilt through its paces, and it appearantly has come out unscathed.

Have you ever had any issues with the velcro closures? That would be my one concern about the kilt in question. Other than that, it appears that I might need to purchase one of these fines works for stomping about the woods in.

I imagine that, like all velcro, it will eventually lose its gripping power...the attrition incurred by all the tearing and such. But, as of now, at the end of each of my races, both strips remained firmly and fully adhered.

I have a 1.5" belt for the kilt, but only use it as a fashion accessory when I'm out and about. Definitely not required to keep things in place.

The VALUE, from a fair price for craftsmanship is why I just ordered my 27th USA Kilt....okay...that and kilt addiction...but the quality is solid.

I don't give my kilts the workout you do - but found the Teflon an gift after getting pitch on a kilt while hiking in the forest. The Teflon allowed me to remove the pitch with the tried and true bacon grease remedy, then the kilt washed up just fine with no trace of the pitch.

The best way to swim with a kilt is to leave the kilt at the shore and swim as God intended man to swim.
