    Will you be wearing this kilt for anything other than rowing? If not, does it matter what it looks like? If sea-water and other stains are part of the sport, it seems like it would be expected by other rowers, and no one would think anything of it.

    I will wear it outside of paddling from time to time which is why I wonder.

    I'm not in the least bit concerned about this. Indications that such substances might have deleterious carcinogenic effects only appear at temperatures above 350ºC (650ºF). If that happens I'll be more concerned with the certain and imminent third degree burns than the potential cancer.

    If my mind was in the gutter I would make a comment on how kilts get women turned on and the "heated" results.

    But we, the kilted, are rarely in the gutter.

    Upshot is, I think you're heading off into an area where nobody but maybe Raphael has any experience. So...go do what seems best. If it works, great. If not, well.....now you know!
