Re: No Pockets - What do I do with my hands?
Good question.
Either hands behind back or one hand with thumb hooked on belt or sporran. If wearing my leather jacket then I have angled side pockets.

Ach! My Dad, the U.S. Army Sergeant Major, referred to the hands-in-pockets stance as "Air Force gloves". The implication was not good. I'll practice a bit of self-restraint and not say exactly how not good.

Re: No Pockets - What do I do with my hands?
Easy answer....
Shield in left hand, sword in right...okay not really. As a Navy Veteran none of my uniforms [except the ice cream suit] had any usable pockets. I am frequently seen holding a day sack [knapsack or book bag] or more formally a leather brief case. In inclement weather an umbrella is a nice touch. Otherwise hands smartly at my sides, held clasped in front, or casually hooked in my belt if not holding a beer.

Put me in the crowd of Spartan and bigdad. I rarely have a hand in my pocket and it actually annoys me when I see people with their hands in their pockets. Very sloppy look, no matter what you are wearing, IMO.
I too, if I'm fidgety, go to parade rest (clasped behind) or at ease (clasped in front).
On rare occasion though, I will do the Al Bundy

What? Standing around doing nothing? That's when you notice idle hands. Get busy!

Me too. Chalk it up to a couple of decades as first an enlisted Marine and then a commissioned Army officer. Hands in the pockets are just Not Done.

Re: No Pockets - What do I do with my hands?
Have have put my hands in the back of my belt/kilt. To the on looker i just have my hands behind my back, but They are propped up in my kilt. Best to do this if your are wearing a jacket as those behind you cant see what your are doing either

It seems the consensus is to not put your hands in your pockets. Since the OP was asking about what to do when there's no pockets to put his hands into, I offer the following suggestion:

When given a choice, most people will choose.

Re: No Pockets - What do I do with my hands?
Glad to know I'm not the only one with this problem! First time I wore my kilt, mostly because it was rather cold out, I kept trying to put my hands in my pockets; the right one slide under the top apron fooling me into thinking I had pockets but the left, of course, went nowhere.
