    Hi,

I have just had a very nice weathered or ancient Sinclair 18 oz wool made by Geoffrey Tailor in Edinburgh. It has been turning many eyes locally being very nicely made and hanging perfectly unlike many you see that cost more, likewise one I got from the same source but in RSCDS tartan two years ago. Both are hand sewn not machine and are very hard to fault so are recommended, probably not the cheapest and havn't yet had years of hard use but quality is assured and they are truly Scottish and I am sure will stand up to abuse! A also have an eBay sourced made to measure Sinclair 13 oz hunting tartan in wool, was much cheaper and machine sewn but that is not obvious. It has been very satisfactory and it is worn two to three times most weeks for three years now at dancing and elsewhere so a couple of hundred wears at least and so far without any distress apart from a few pulled threads (thanks to my cat who loves it too). Maker is unknown but was in Glasgow. Not much help I know but it proves good stuff is on eBay if you take appropriate care buying and they need not be so so expensive that you need be protective of them.

I'm a big fan of both Bonnie Heather Greene and Kathy Lare. Kathy is only one state away from you so a personal visit may be a possibility for you

    Best of luck!

Good luck. May you have happy kilt shopping and a relatively stress-free Jonesing.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Perhaps not off the shelf, but any " kiltmaker" will be able to make one without any problems

    Hi.

I find myself a bit confused. One doesn't buy a *insert clan here* kilt so much as buy a kilt, and then specify which tartan will be used. Select your kiltmaker and deal through him/ her to get the tartan you prefer. They're available all over the world, and very much so stateside.

Try clicking on a couple of the sponsors. I personally like to work with someone who is near me so that I can go down for measurements and discuss plans and potentials.

    J. Higgins claims to have three Sinclair tartans in the Red and Green variations. See them at

    Happy hunting.
