I love the taste of Drambuie, but it's very, very sweet, so a little goes a long way for me. If I'm having a Rusty Nail it's usually made closer to 3/4 Whisky and 1/4 Drambuie.
Please note that this is NEVER with a single malt, but a decent blend.

My uncle introduced me to this a long time ago. I usually drink it with a slug of scotch to 'unsweeten' it but also like it straight.
On a cold winter's evening, it sure warms the cockles - must buy some!

Someone (I forget who) in another thread recommended a cold glass of milk with a shot of Drambuie. Believe it is called a White Nail. Forget the eggnog, this is great! (Hey, at my age, I need the calcium...)

Re: OMG I have found it, the nectar of the gods!
I have enjoyed Drambuie for years. Mostly I drink in neat, but the last few years occassionaly I have it on the rocks.
Click here to read about the legend of Drambuie. When I was on Skye last September I went to the Broadford to have a dram, probably two.
I personally liked the previous bottle than the newer one. Probably an age thing; what we are use to we prefer.

Heartily agree Mael, I much prefer the older bottle. For me it has also ties to memories of holidays and special events in the life of family, friends and relatives over many years and some of those people have now passed on. Christmas evening, after a nice meal and everyone sitting around the living room.

Rusty nail it is. It is a great way to make a mediocre scotch good. I once allowed a bartender, to his great joy, to introduce me to an "Up Your Kilt" that he kept pouring for me gratis because he took a liking to me and wanted to 'introduce' me to a new drink. I didn't have the heart to tell him that I'd had quite a few years enjoyment of the same drink under a different name. Couldn't bear to ruin his fun.

Re: OMG I have found it, the nectar of the gods!
Drambuie is a wonderful elixer. I use it to "sweeten" Earl Grey tea. It's also good in eggnog and by itself. It's not available here in the States, but Glenfiddich makes a similar product that I think is even better. Admittedly, my last sampling was at the distillery while vacationing, so my judgement could be clouded. It was also not the first stop on the whisky tour, so that might also be a factor. According to the representative from Grant & Sons that was hosting the tasting I attended at the KC Games and Gathering, there are also no plans to import it either. I guess a side by side comparison will have to wait until my next trip to Scotland.

I'm on board with this as well. I never understand why brands feel a need to "update" a classic look.
