Thanks, Eric.
Unfortunately, the weather hasn't been cooperating and I've not been able to get out do any throwing whatsoever. It's rained or drizzled for the last seven days.

* I misloaded the bar. My intention was to do two reps at 180 but when I checked after there was only 175 on the bar. So, I loaded up to 185 and did two more reps.
The incline benches were a baselining deal. Haven't done full reps for several months and I need to figure out where my working sets should start. With a 78-1/2" wingspan, I'm not ideally proportioned for benching. My largely decorative shoulders don't help much either.
But I have radius for days.

Didn't feel terribly strong but what with the very nice weather this morning I decided to throw something.
Mar 23, 2012
16.5 Lb Stone
3 warmup tosses over the head
3 warmup throws - no measurements taken
4 throws w the best being 31'4" from the Braemar position (80% effort)
Hammers - My turn to suck
3 warmups w the 10lb'er - no measurements taken
4 throws w the Gurley Mon hammer (12lb'er) - all being 89-90'
Felt very rusty on the hammers. Probably this is due to not having done any winds during the off season to speak of and I have trained hammers only three times in the last six months including today. I fear for the caber and WOB.
My stone technique still needs work but is improving. The "imitations" have helped immensely.

Hardly worth mentioning but I did do a few stone puts this morning with two of the Magni Corps throwing group. Weather was horrible but the rain held off. I'd have like to try the hammers again but had removed them from the truck and had already left the house before I received the Magni Corps text.

Haven't been feeling quite up to par the past few days but decided to drag myself out into the garage gym this afternoon. Everything went well except for a "dip" with the second incline bench workset and the Core Blaster. By the end of the Core Blaster set I was wondering if I was going to be able to make 13' in the WOB.
Last time I tossed the WOB was at the Dixon Games last year. Same goes for caber. I have outlasted my core throwing group and feel like the last of the Wild Bunch.

I hear that Dennis Morrison threw at Sonora, so hopefully he'll come out to play. Larry Sisseck turns 60 the day after Las Vegas, so you'll have him in the 60's at Woodland. Ted Joseph, throws down here with me, will be at Woodland, I'm sure. Preston and Ray will be out, I'm sure. We oughtta beat up on John Waugh and get him to come up here for some of the Nor Cal stuff.
Watch Ted throw weights for distance. He does pretty well with everything else, but weights are his nemesis and I'm starting to run out of ideas.
His stones are technically OK...sure, they're not great, this is his second season and he has a bum elbow, but he gets them to fly. There's always room for improvement, but he's "doing it". He's got 10 feet in WOB, almost got 11 at Dixon, he'll probably get it this season. That's perfectly respectable. Hammers...sure, he doesn't extend as much as he ought to, but he winds the thing around and gets a decent pull on it and doesn't fall on his keister. I think he's going to get 60 in the 16 hammer this season....again, respectable.
But weights? They're killin' him. So if you see anything that you can suggest, don't be shy!

I was referring to my training group and the weekend sessions up at Frank Lux's "Loch Loomis Training Center." Every Sunday during throwing season with at least 5-10 throwers out in the sheep pasture...for the last 12 years.
When Frank hung up his cleats the group pretty much went separate ways.
Life goes on.

Ooooh. I knew Frank called it quits, but to lose the whole practice group....that hurts.

Frank's place was the ideal setup: Open meadow with sheep, all the implements, shade around the perimeter, and most importantly it was centrally located for all the athletes.
Some more bittersweet news: Looks like I won't be playing at Woodland this month as that's the only weekend open for a trip down to LA to see our newest grandson.
Dang. Two years in a row I've missed Woodland.
