Re: 60oz Guinness in a pub!!

As a younger man, there was a pub near my house called the Silver Kingfish Tavern. On thursday nights they had $2 liter nights, and Guinness and Newcastle on tap. On top of that, they had some of the best burgers I can remember, and thick cut fries.

The burger and fries were $10, I would always tip $5 on my burger and first beer, and I still spent $30 bucks, so you can imagine how many liters of Guinness or Newcastle I put down. I'm just glad the walk home was only about a mile (about 7 city blocks).

A 60oz guinness would be no small feat for me these days, now that I've drastically reduced my weight and my alcohol consumption. I was toasty roasty from a 24-oz bottle of Highland Ale last night. I'm sure I'd put one down without being staggeringly drunk, but I wouldn't be able to drink much more.

it would almost be worth it, just for the glass, IF someone else was driving.

As to pints? picture guiness in one of these:

a full yard, or about 2.5 imperial pints

The thing about Guiness is you gotta know which Guiness you're drinkin'

They make a surprisingly low alcohol 4% brew and a kick *** 7.5% alcohol version. Mix them up and drink the 7.5% thinking its the 4% and there's probably Hell to pay.

Re: 60oz Guinness in a pub!!

A lot of breweries and brew pubs will fill a "Growler" (64oz capped bottle) for between ten and twenty dollars. I have three from Fitger's in Duluth, MN in my fridge right now. And god knows that their Raspberry Imperial Stout makes Guinness taste like Bud Light...
You get to keep the Growler, too ;-)

Probably for a soda in the lobby of my apartment at the time.

Truth be told, I got paid on thursdays at the time, and was young and dumb, no bank account, so I always knew I was shy by $30 of my pay every friday morning.

Yes indeed our friend Scott had a beautiful kiltloving lass as his designated driver!

By the time we all went home we were fairly sober anyhow... because our band piped at a pub (The Marine Room, Laguna) for two hours after our Hennessy's break.

Scott's piping showed little ill effects from that huge Guinness. I can't do that, drink and pipe! Note that I'm the only one in the photo drinking soda.
