Yep, the SHGA list is pretty good - I mean, they have scores of Games listed and even Superman would feel a bit tired if he competed in all of 'em!

I'm doing quite a few - at least a dozen, probably closer to twenty over the whole season, May to September - but then I don't have a life and I'm doing the season this year for charity so the more Games I throw at, the more money I raise.

So have a look at the websites of a few Games close-ish to Edinburgh, and call or email 'em to ask if they'll take a novice in their Heavy Events. Most of them will. Most of them, you don't even have to enter in advance, you just turn up on the day and make yourself known to the judges on the field. It's probably wise to be able to tell them roughly what distances etc you can throw with any given implement.
In the meantime, find a heavy events thrower and ask them to help you. If you don't know how to find one, ask the Heavy Events organisers when you speak to them if they know anybody in your particular area.
I hope I see you at at least one of the Games this summer!

Twenty is a LOT.... a dozen is plenty, that is still one every two-three weeks. But hey, if you are up for it.
