I live only about 80 miles to the east of Anne (Pleater) and we are in a recently designated (and official) drought situation, with hosepipe bans and water restrictions to be introduced on 5 April - no garden watering with hoses or sprinklers, no domestic car washing, etc. It has been the 2nd driest winter on record in this part of the United Kingdom!
Regarding temperatures: yesterday I was able to take my morning coffee and lunch on the Wisteria Terrace here at Bicknell Grange - unheard of in March. My max/min thermometer registered a high of 73ºF in the afternoon, way above the average. Having said that, we are only just escaping the night frosts which are not uncommon around this season.
Take care,
Ham.
