Unfortunately, I'll be in Austin for the weekend and will have to miss the games even though the new dates are much more acceptable than in previous years.

I'm a Lifer in Clan Davidson. I've even met Dave Chagnon at the Long's Peak HG.

I went for a few years and had a blast. I had no idea it had moved to May. Have to look into it again in the future!

Pyper:
I suspect that it moved to May to take advantage of the cooler temperatures, as it's been over 100 degrees at least the past two years. From the TSF website:
We are changing the dates for our Festival! After 25 years of enjoying our Scottish Heritage underneath the blazing Texas sun, we have decided to change the dates to a more "Scot-Friendly" environment.
While I can understand them moving the dates, this may seal the fate of the Houston Highland Games, which is traditionally the second weekend in May, though they have been cancelled last year and this year as a result of disarray within the organization. I think this will make it difficult for the Houston games to resurrect themselves, unless they're willing to find another weekend. And if you think it's hot in Arlington in June...

I think the Houston games as we knew them are pretty much defunct at this point. Although it's always plenty hot here that time of year, hopefully the Dallas games will be nicer.

Wow that's hot. When I was there it was "only" in the mid to upper 90s and it was crazy. And it's not like it's exactly cold here in South Carolina.
Well I hope things work out with the new date! It makes it harder for me though -- since school is in session and my wife works at a school.

I guess the time has come to ask: Where and when do we meet for a photo op?

We can assemble at the MacDougall tent whenever it's convenient for the most. I'll bring a camera.
