Yes, Steven, I assumed these arms a few years back. Since I lacked the means to register them at the time, and since it is not illegal in South Africa to bear assumed arms, I did not begin the registration process until late last year.
The background to them, as well as the blazon, you will find at http://www.reocities.com/skildsoom/OettleE.html – this page was part of the heraldry website I maintained for some years.
Kyle, while I am not sure what you mean by a rendered drawing, but the first colour illustration in the article, as well as the last one, were imaged on computer by Australia-based artist Barrie Burr. I also have hand-painted renditions (in digital form) by Ton de Witte and Denny McGoff.
Thank you, everyone, for your kind words. The credit should go to the artists, since while I devised the arms, I had to rely on others to produce illustrations.
Regards,
Mike

Mike. I found this today online and thought I would pass it on to you. Your blazon is right before mine.

Many thanks for passing this on, WVH. Also included are the arms of Hendrik Christo Viljoen, a retired professor from Stellenbosch University, who consulted me about his device. They are based on the arms approved some years ago for the Viljoen Familiebond (family association), but as yet unregistered. I am (very distantly) a descendant of the first Viljoen in South Africa, a Frenchman from the Île de France whose surname was originally Villon.
Regards,
Mike

Congratualtions, again! Now, it's time to contact a good silversmith and have a silver circlet (with or without a metal feather), your crest and wreath alone, et al made!
Well done, gents!
Cheers,

Actually, Kyle, having a badge made up right now is a bit premature, since publication in the Government Gazette is not the final stage in the process. It is an invitation for objections, which are open for a number of months (I forget exactly how many).
Only when the period for objections has closed (and assuming none have been received) can the device be regarded as official and unlikely to be altered (unless the registrant wants to go through an expensive process of re-registration).
At that point the work on the official certificate can start – and, in theory, I could find myself a silversmith to make up the bonnet badge.
Unfortunately, due to the high volume of work being processed through the Bureau, it may take a couple of years before I receive my certificate.
Regards,
Mike

Oh, I see. In due course, then.

I didn't realized they were so back-logged. Mr. van Rossum is really on top of everything, answering emails and providing advice within a day....wow that lends a lot to their professionalism. (I couldn't get that kind of response out of the College of Arms and sometimes the Lyon's office.)
