No, but you do after 10,000 +1s. Steve is keeping track, I think.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

If you see abbreviations, initials or acronyms you do not know the Xmarks FAQ section on abbreviations may help.

I'm very sorry to disappoint everyone but the 10,000 post limit for a free kilt was broken many years ago.
In the beginning of X Marks we thought - "Hey, it just a forum about kilts. No one could ever make 10,000 posts about one subject." Boy were we wrong. That was 8 years ago, and as you can see from the box at the bottom of the home page our members are fast approaching 1,000,000 posts. Many have more than 10,000.
So if you're hoping to use *** to build your post count and be top poster I wish you luck and hope you like sore fingers.

Gentlefolk: If you read Steve's message carefully, he is talking about posts, not +1s. I still believe if you post 10,000 +1s (10,001 for McClef and LitTrog), you will get a free kilt. I'm optimistic, because Steve wished us good luck and hoped we like sore fingers. If I count correctly, I have about 36 +1s. I'm well on the way!

It is often called 'Power Posting'. I am a member of one forum where a power post will be removed and a second post will be randomly removed by way of punishment.
People will feel strongly about something and want to agree, but lack the vocabulary or depth of knowledge to write something original. In a case like that "I agree with XXX" is acceptable, I think. But when a poster is known to be knowledgeable, intelligent and erudite, then it is a bit of an insult to the rest of us. If nothing else, because they think we don't notice!
Regards
Chas
