there was a good program on clan Grant, it was either Scotlands Clans or Highland Clans. Big into slavery, hence Grant being such a common name in the Caribbean. Plenty on different sites on The Queens own Cameron Highlanders,not to be confused with the Cameronians. Good luck with your research ,the chap looks most dignified . The Grant tartan has been on many a shortbread tin as well, HMMMM

Thanks for your welcome everyone. You might be interested to know my great great grandfather married s Scottish lass as soon as he was discharged and emigrated to Canterbury in New Zealand where he became a simple farmer and raised a family. Sadly, he died from cancer at the young age of 40.
