I have never met a Scotch or Scotsman I didn't liked...I have met more Scotches than Scots...Well I may have thought I met a Scotman while enjoying a Scotch...I like Scotch.

Laphroaig is a staple in my house; I'm never without it. Being a fan of Islay scotch, Laphroaig is the perfect intersection of flavor and price point. It's excellent scotch, and it's reasonably priced. Now...for a truly sublime yet expensive experience, I recommend Lagavulin 21...

Ditto on the Lagavulin 21 and I really like Bunnahabhain 12. But the journey is ever so very enjoyable.

I tried a bunch of malts "on the hunt" -- sufficient to convince me that I must have been an Islayman in a past life. Lagavulin 16 has been a constant with me for the last 15 years, and usually there's some Laphroaig in the cabinet as well. Come to think of it, I believe those are the only two in the cabinet at the moment...

I don't mind a complicated Scotch but I do mind one that can't stand up and speak loudly.

The owner actually apologized for not having it in stock. He is a pretty nice guy and said he would be sure to order more and always keep one behind the counter for me. And, as luck would have it, I have found two more that I enjoy

The Laphroaig can take a little while to get to know, but I really like it (in small doses). The really cool part of it is that you're now a lessee of a plot of Islay, and you get a certificate to prove it. Mine is framed and hanging above my sewing machine.

I wasn't sure if that was an offer or the actual deal. Too funny. I can imagine if you drank enough, you could collect several pieces of the property;-)

Having tried both the Clynelish and the Laphraoig, and subsequently added them both to my current "stable" of whiskies, I can honestly say that I have never tasted a single malt scotch whisky I did not enjoy, some more than others for a variety of reasons. Scotsmen, I cannot say the same about, but as long as I stay away from a certain Royal golf club in Ayrshire I think that will nay be an issue again. I remain a "neat" man, in a clean glass, except for the rare few drops of spring water I may add to one of my cask strength bottlings, just to bring it in line from an overall strength standpoint. Tough to honestly compare 93 octane petrol to 85 octane even if you are a high performance engine, which I am not.

Loved both the Clynelish and the Laphraoig, and the extra scottish land "ownership" of the Laphraoig only adds to its interesting novelty. Enjoy.

Sorry this is a bit , but it's great to hear from you again. It's been a while.

Thanks to the OP and this thread, I enjoyed a neat dram of Clynelish the night before last. It's one of my favorites. You know how I feel about peated malts, so I won't go where the carbolic acid lies. I don't like practicing mammalian tissue preservation in vivo, so to speak.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.
