One thing I noted with this 5.11 kilt was that it had an apron in the rear. To each his own, but I really prefer pleats.
Are you planning pleats?

I am planning pleats I have done three types out of the six pleating styles I am aware of, with the prototypes it's going to be a box pleat. I can do reverse kingussie, knife and box, although if someone is interested in testing my design with a strange color combo of fabric with thread I have a solid red with blue thread on my work bench right now that is going to be reverse kingussie.

You seem to have enough testers, but, I am very interested in seeing pictures of your prototypes when you are ready.

Ideas and comments are appreciated.
I don't think you would have a problem there. We have been doing it for years. If you go to any of the big (read huge, international) kilt makers, they will help you choose your fabric, take your measurements, get a second person to check, enter the details in the order book, give you a time frame and take your money.
But if you ask to meet the person who will actually make your kilt, you will be given a polite refusal and a "sorry, Sir - not company policy, I'm afraid".
So a kilt being made by someone who's name we already know - no problem.

While I have no need to be a test kilt wearer, I wish you all the best in your endeavors.

Always up for a challenge and a new kilt design. If you need a tester in the NC area let me know. If not I wish you all luck and good fortune.

Off kilt-er dude, I wear my Amerikilts daily as work clothes. I work for www.renleather.com. I'm one of their artisans, and work in a filthy environment where rugged clothes are a priority. I'd be more than happy to spend a month or three putting one of your kilts through it's paces.
As a matter of fact, here's a picture of the crew! Guess which one is me... http://www.renleather.com/index.php?...19qic39c3c76i4
