Right. Which is my favorite child? Which is my favorite flower? What's my favorite food? What's my favorite color?
I'm an ADDICT! I LOVE THEM ALL!!!! Choosing between a hand sewn Kathy Lare sewn from Lochcarron Strome and a leather kilt from Robert Pell is like choosing between a rose and an orchid...
I've lost count of how many kilts I've owned since my kilt addiction blossomed...I think its 77....still have about 38 or them and God help me I have one more in the pipe. The Federal Memorial that Rocky had woven and Kathy is sewing up now.
Best thing I can say about favorite kilt is that I guess my favorite kilt is the one I'm jonesing for......
This messes with my mind bigtime! Aaaarrrrrrghhhh.

Like Riverkilt, I doubt I could say I have a favorite, but there is one that is particularly special for a couple of different reasons. It is a 15 oz. heavyweight, special weave by D.C. Dalgliesh, and sewn by Matt Newsome into a four yard box pleated wonder. Matt's work is flawless; the fit is perfect; and the cloth is nothing short of glorious. It is the first kilt I have that is made of Dalgliesh cloth, and it certainly will not be the last.
The area where I live was heavily burned over in a September firestorm of unimaginable proportion and intensity. For weeks after, it was very much like walking through a carpet-bombed landscape. When things were at their worst and it had become apparent that we could not save the house, the question was then very simple . . . . .what do we take from the house after we get the kilts to safety?
The loss of more than a hundred years of family history is giving way to the excitement of building the new house, but it won't really be finished properly until we bring the tartan back. When we gather to do that, and the pipers give us "Highland Cathedral", the Newsome box pleat will be the first through the door, and I will be home again.
Yeah. It is that special.

Ugh--I have a tie score on this one.
A. 16oz. Newsome in a tartan I designed/registered in honor of my grandfather:
B. My Bruce modern 5 yard wool from Rocky at USA Kilts. This is the first actual multi-functional kilt I've owned that works as well while throwing cabers or out to dinner.

Eight Yard Hand Sewn by Xman
My favorite is my eight yard hand sewn kilt in HOE Morrison red muted because:
A) It is very comfortable,
B) It is constructed and pleated with precision,
and
3) I love the color.
It took me awhile to adjust to the idea of wearing a red kilt but we are getting use to each other now.
The kilt chooses the kiltie, it's not always clear why.

I like my Ancient Gordon kilt the best, and feel it is the most beautiful tartan and preferred to my Modern and Weathered variants, which I still love.
