    Daywear at the games

For my visit to the Highland games I am thinking of adapting my current outfit (black argyll, dress sporran, black hose, green flashes) with a more daywear look. Unfortunately if budget does not permit it will have to be the above outfit with day sporran but ideally my choice would be:
. Lovatt green tweed argyll and waistcoat
    . White shirt
    . Club tie
    . Lamont modern kilt
    . Brown daywear sporran
    . Lovatt green hose
    . Red flashes
. Either brown or black Oxford shoes can't decide in colour?

My question is due to my non existent budget where can I get a nice but very very cheap ( don't mind second hand ) lovatt green jacket and waistcoat (40 regular) ive looked online but can't find anything here in the uk that matches my budget! All of the other items I need I can find relatively cheap...

    Any help appreciated.x

I suppose you've tried eBay. That's the only source I can think of for second hand jackets. The cheapest shop for new jackets I can think of is Hector Russell, they are very good and very reasonably priced. Good luck.

Just a thought for a chap with a tight budget. Do you really need a jacket for this event? If you are just going as a spectator with no connection to the games, other than interest, you don't need to wear a jacket. Yes absolutely, they are nice to own and to wear, but necessary? No. A nice pullover(sweater) will work perfectly well and if the sun comes out---it just might------then shirt sleeves are a pretty good option and in the far more likely event that it rains you will wear something over your jacket anyway.

Jock has a point. a Polo shirt and jumper can look smart enough (smarter than most in my experience) with the advantage of being cheap and something you might already have.

A nice Argyle vest sweater is a nice way to go if you dont need the coat. They go quite well with a long sleeve shirt and tie. Though I have this one on with a jacket, I would be just as comfortable with it alone and a shirt and tie.

Thank you very much for the great picture. Look forward to hearing more comments. I have settled on the jacket as I would normally wear a jacket and tie ben if not kilted just got to decide which one!

By the way does any one know any good places to eat. Somewhere nice that I can take my wife to in Stirling?

    BrewerPaul, GREAT outfit, sir.
Jock, your advice (as usual) is smashing.
Gazbot, I usually wear a sweater with my kilt. I haven't the need for an Argyle jacket so a jumper/pullover is just fine. Very modern, very sharp looking.
