I honestly feel that people overthink all of this. Yes, I know that this is a kilt forum and that the whole point of the forum is to discuss every point of kilt wearing in minute detail, but....

My opinion? Strap on your kilt. Wear a buckle and a sporran. Wear kilt hose, and I could care less what color, and that includes white if you happen to like white. Shoes..... Whatever you've got. Put on a comfortable shirt. If you need to cover your head, then cover your head. If it's cold, then wear something over the shirt to keep warm. If it's dumping rain, then wear something for that, or carry an umbrella. Then go to the flippin' Games.

for me it all comes down to the weather, most of the games/Celtic fests I go to are in the summer in Texas, so you just won't see me sporting a jacket and tie or a jumper etc.. on a 90 or 95 degree day.


Here's some of the XMarks gang last September at the Sherwood Celtic Fest, this is pretty typical attire on the hot days down here. I usually wear a light cotton shirt with a t-shirt under so I don't sweat through it too bad. And yeah, I'm wearing a ball cap on my bald head.
