I just scanned Celtic Croft's latest catalog and checked their web pages, but no doublets. Is that one of those special order, you just have to know about it, items? How did you order it? Thanks.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

The Celtic Croft is limited in warehouse space. That being the case, they will order in just about anything you could desire. Just call and tell them what you are looking for. The doublet is from Gaelic Themes, the kilt and flyplaid are from D.C. Dalgiesh, and the cape was made by the Scottish Inverness Cape Company.
The reason I did not go direct on any of these purchases is the price points were near enough the same, no bother about duties and I support a wonderful local business.
The sporran is vintage sealskin, but L&M make one very similar.
The hose are from the Scottish Tartans Museum.
The odd bits are again from Celtic Croft.

Thanks. That would explain it.
It must be nice being rich. Where were you when I was selling tartan-covered Scottish encyclopedias?

LOL rich is one thing I am not. I had the good fortune to parlay one old hobby into a new one.

Very smart indeed, yet in my honest opinion, I wouldn't bother with the hairy tweed 'Inverness' style cape for evening attire, as you really aren't out in the cold very long and if your doublet is of decent weight barathea, it should keep you fairly warm as you trek from your house to your car and vice versa. I would save the tweed cape for when you are dressed in day attire, say at a chilly Highland games or something. However, they (Kinloch-Anderson) do make rather smart capes out of smooth barathea, complete with silver buttons that would look quite nice with Highland evening attire.
Cheers,

Very nice doublet! Have you considered a pair of bar buckle brogues or a hair sporran?

You look very smart in the doublet Fedgunner. I favour the Sheriffmuir myself but would leave off the fly plaid for the jigging and the lace cufs for the soup!
Nice Inverness cape as well!

Really smart. I have out grown my PC jacket and am thinking of a Sheriffmuir and waistcoat, but they seem to be the most expensive option

It most certainly can be, especially when done in velvet or tartan.

Cheers,
In another thread I debated this very question. In a previous post I stated that I wasn't wealthy and this Inverness cape will have to serve double duty.
I would also say that in Minnesota during January and Febuary temperatures of -20 to -30 are more common than not add a bit of wind and a 10 minute walk outside can become quite cool. :-)
