There's a kids kilt and vest in the swap sub forum you may want to look at.

Shaun, I find those little kilts fantastic. You are very creative!

Shaun's idea is great (and can't beat those pictures, right off the top of the cuteness meter!).

You could also try DIY based on the XKilt instructions, as this dad did.

I would love to have the skill to DIY it or the time but that is not the case. Love all of the options so far though. I am now bragging to my co workers about it!

    Hi,
what do you think about classic version but quite modern camouflage fabric?
I have just prepared one for my friend for her baby shower who is expecting a son ;-)
I have used velcro in a waistband, no straps and bucles because it will be worn by a small 0-6months baby boy.

ID:	9735 Not sure if this will work (haven't tried uploading a photo for a while), but wanted to share a set I made for twins - one boy, one girl - the parents wanted a set in each of their family tartans, so two kilts and two sashes for the wee girl's dress. I assume they wore one for the christening and one for the party afterwards. Nothing cuter than a kid in a kilt.

I got my 6 year old a kilt from www.stillwaterkilts.com for $15.00. He loves wearing it with the old man. We go out and practice throwing together and he always wears it to competitions to cheer me on! Good quality and velcro.

    Making a baby kilt

Last summer I made a baby kilt using a tartan scarf.

First I measured the length and made a hem for future growth....

Next I centered the tartan pattern for the apron, trimmed the scarf fringe and made a facing, made the underapron, planned and stitched the pleats, and sewed a ribbon to the top to make the waistband.....

Then I basted and pressed the lower pleats, turned the ribbon waistband under and stitched, and the sewed on velcro to fasten.

It took about 3 hours. The scarf cost about $30.

Shaun, Molly Kate looks adorable! And Bonnie Heather’s scarf-to-kilt idea looks great, too.
    Regards,
    Mike
