Here's the pipe band... note the London Scottish grey hair sporrans

"D'ye hae a wee lassie in toon?" (yep, and she's your daughter! D'oh!)

In the opening sequence the two Mess pipers are wearing ordinary civilian pipe band kit: note the doublet here has no collar badges. And their sporrans are typical civilian.

Hard to see here, but there they are

The piping is very nice... I wonder who the pipers were, perhaps pipers from The London Scottish. That version of The Black Bear has some tricky fingering, difficult to play cleanly.

Amen, Brian. I have recommended the film to some of the ROTC cadets I have taught in military history classes -- all of them came back with very positive reviews.

As a military historian (and a 4F one at that that couldn't enlist due to childhood asthma), the attention to detail in the film is worth its weight in gold.

And probably not a few of them came back with a bit of "kilt envy", thinking "why can't we have uniforms that cool?"

Funny you should mention that, but one of my former students, originally from Mexico, did make a similar comment to that about regimental customs & traditions...
